General Description
Fluorene is a rigid coplanar polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon. The white crystalline form of fluorene has a violet fluorescence, which is the origin of the English name Fluorene. It is often used as a precursor to synthesize other fluorene-based compounds. Fluorene is used as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of polymer radicals for resins, and is also used in the preparation of resin products and dyes.
Applications
Fluorene is used to study the extraction of specific, semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT)
